Can Ceramides Cause Purging?

Ceramides do not cause true purging. Purging is a specific phenomenon tied to ingredients that speed up skin-cell turnover — retinoids and exfoliating acids — which can push already-forming clogs to the surface faster, causing a temporary flare before things improve.
